Zambia’s implementation of Beneficial Ownership Transparency

Our Associate Advocate Mwape Ida Kopulande was invited as a representative of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) to participate as a stakeholder in the consultative meeting on planning for Zambia’s implementation of Beneficial Ownership Transparency (BOT) until December 2023.

The Opening Extractives Program (OEP) implemented by Open Ownership and coordinated under the EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) had extended an invitation to key stakeholders in the country who have been instrumental to its implementation on issues related to BOT.

During the meeting, she made a consolidated presentation on behalf of the group concerning the roles, responsibilities and implementation of greater BOT on the basis of the OEP objectives.
Other participants who were in attendance were government agencies, representatives of civil societies, cooperating partners and professional service providers such as Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development, Mining Cadastre Department, Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), Financial Intelligence Centre, Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA)ZPPA Zambia Public Procurement Authority, British High Commission, Prospero amongst others.
